September In Review

With only a handful of small fish reported, it was looking like September was going to be a total bust. That all changed mid month for two lucky anglers. On Monday, September 13th, FFC member Steve Cothran reported his personal best catch.

Steve Cothran / 8.31lbs / Lake Weir

Here is his report that was posted on the “Fishing Reports” page. “Caught this beautiful 8.31 largemouth on Lake Weir on Monday. Hard bite on a slow moving chatterbait”

Steve Cothran / Personal Best

Steve has submitted his catch to “Florida Trophy Catch” and some goodies are on the way.

Just two days later I received a text message and two pics from FFC member Wayne Barksdale.

Wayne Barksdale / 9lbs. 15oz. / Lake Griffin

Here’s the story told in his words. “Started fishing Griffin this morning at 7.30am. I was using my junebug speed worm on a number 2 twisted lock hook. 15lb floracarbon line. A 1/8th weight..free line with the weight. At 10.30am I was dragging my speed worm off of pads in 3 feet of water. I Never felt the bass hit the worm..my line just started moving away .it took a few seconds to realize it was a very big bass. 9lb and 15oz!!

Waynes “Moby”

Two outstanding catches and both worthy of being called “Fish Of The Month”

Fish Of The Month Pin

Thanks to all that reported and sent in pics. Keep them coming.
