August 2021 / Good Start – Great Finish

August got off to a good start for FFC member Steve Felix.

This nice 4.76 lb. Bass was taken on August 2nd at Mission Hills Pond. Soft plastic got the job done.

Report number two came just two days later at this same pond.

Len Dursholz / 5lbs. 2oz. / Villages Pond

FFC member Len Dursholz reeled in this nice 5lb. 2oz. Bass taken with a Smithwick Rattlin Rogue jerkbait. Note the headlamp on Len’s cap. Len is known to fish well after sunset and this fish bit at 8:45 pm.

A third Mission Hills Pond catch was reported on August 5th by FFC member Jim Geiger.

This 5lb beauty fell for a Junebug Trick Worm. Now will this pond continue to produce? Time will tell.

NOTE: This pond does not offer vehicle parking and is only accessible by golf cart. Anglers are urged to only fish the shoreline ajacent to the golf cart path. 

The next report came on August 12th from FFC member Wayne Barksdale.

This 7lb. 2oz. Lake Griffin Bass was the catch of the day. Wayne was able to land several more but due to the heat wayne knocked off early.

The last two reports came from FFC member “Chip” Austin.

Chip reported this nice 7lb. 1oz. Villages pond Bass on August 19th and followed it up with this 7lb catch from Lake Griffin.

Both fish were taken with a Gambler 6″ soft plastic worm. Another “Fish Of The Month” pin for Chip’s double catch.

Now check this out. Taking a break from fishing the local ponds FFC member Frank Martines decided to get out of Dodge and try his hand at fly fishing for Salmon in Alaska.
